This just in..

The Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT) that will run on and support remotely managing Windows Server (including the latest Windows Server 2016 Technical Preview) are now generally available for download.

You can find the download HERE

NOTE: Make sure you read the system requirements!  These tools only run on Windows 10 Professional and Windows 10 Enterprise.  So don’t go trying to do any fancy-schmancy server administrating from your Windows 10 Home installation.

UPDATE: Those of you who may have installed this and not seen the tools actually installed… Watch your language.  Smile  This release is for English (United States) only.  Yes, I wish it would give you a big error and message about "wrong language version" or somesuch, but apparently it just appears to succeed without so much as a beep.

  2. I actually didn’t see it in Features at first either, but I think it might be because I didn’t restart the computer (which is required). I installed it again, and after the restart they were there.

  5. Nothing for me either – I've installed and rebooted five times, as has a colleague of mine. It doesn't show up in Administrative Tools (the MS web page says all tools are enabled by default). It's not listed in Programs and Features > Turn a Windows feature
    on / off, and it's not even listed under Programs and Features > View installed updates! It's as though it says it's installed successfully but not actually done anything.
    There's also nothing listed in Event Viewer > Application logs..

    So near yet so far 🙂

  6. Sorry if this is a silly question, but are you running Windows 10 Pro or Enterprise? I’m not sure what the experience will be, but these tools aren’t supported on the Home edition.
    Also – What happens if you just click start and type "Server Manager"? Are you able to run that app? (It actually should show up as *new* in the All Apps list.)

  7. I agree with everyone else posting here. We are running Windows 10 Enterprise. I've attempted to install RSAT four times and rebooted multiple times. Every time RSAT claims that it installed successfully, but we don't see it listed in Programs and Features.
    Also, I see no new shortcuts created. The logs were not helpful.

    One thing I noticed is that the RSAT installation process completes much more quickly than it did in Windows 7 or 8.1. The installation could take several minutes in the older OSes. In Windows 10, it can complete within 10 to 15 seconds. It seems to me like
    the installation isn't really doing anything.

  8. Run the installer, says installation success & rebooted PC. However no sign of the tools.

    Under "Settings > Update & Security > Advanced Options > View Your Update History" it shows a successful install (well actually is shows more than one as I have now attempted the install several times which surely shows an error as it should only show up once
    if successful)
    However in "Control Panel > Programs & Features > View Installed Updates" searching for the KB2693643 doesn't show it as being installed.

    Now I know that RSAT is always released a couple of weeks or so AFTER a new OS release, hence why unlike some people I am not going to complain about the timing, I am however quiet unhappy that now it has been released and doesn't work.

  12. Something has got to be wrong with the installer. I have tried several times today with no success. The installer acts like everything was installed successfully but none of the tools ever show up. I am running Windows 10 Pro with English (US) language
    installed. If you notice the License Agreement that comes up when you start the install it still says "…tools for Microsoft Pre-Release Windows Operating System…" So is this not the full release yet either???

  16. A update, before I installed the language pack from settings, time and language. That didn't work. Now I've downloaded the language pack iso and installed the language pack with lpksetup. And now I'm able to install rsat.

  17. Under "Add Windows Features" -> "Remote Server Tools" you can see that the DHCP Manager seems to be installed. But the MMC or Server Manager do not recognize this. Also you can not run dhcpmgmt.msc.
