On March 18, 2008 we hit Motown hard with Windows Server 2008 goodness...and I'm also getting better at streaming Silverlight video; but I'm looking for the perfect combination of clarity and video size. I'd be able to get full HD (got the camera for it and everything), but the video size gets too unwieldy. … Continue reading Heroes happen { here } Launch Video Diary 3 – Detroit

Why is Windows Server 2008 at SP1 already?
Many of us were baffled by what we saw when we first installed the "RTM" bits of Windows Server 2008 and looked at the winver results: "Huh? Service Pack 1?"Yeah. At first glance you may think it strange that a first version of a product would already be at SP1 level. So I thought I … Continue reading Why is Windows Server 2008 at SP1 already?

Are you worried that Big Bad Microsoft will dominate the Internet now?
I have to laugh sometimes at how un-informed some TV and other media pundits are when it comes to the world of technology."That's news to you?"Well, I shouldn't be surprised, I suppose. More specifically, though, and technology-knowledge aside (and forgiven), I do think that the comments and blanket-statements on the competitive landscape should be more … Continue reading Are you worried that Big Bad Microsoft will dominate the Internet now?
A Geek On A Quest (But does he get the girl?)
Our TechNet folks have put together a promotion, and a fun game to go along with it. Those of us who spent too many hours playing cheesy pixilated adventure games** about 15-20 years ago will appreciate the awesome reproduction in the form of this cute online game, "Server Quest". The sappy soundblaster-esque (you have my … Continue reading A Geek On A Quest (But does he get the girl?)
Another Video Test
http://silverlight.services.live.com/invoke/30195/BreakfastMPG/iframe.html This time I took my original AVCHD file and rendered it as a high-quality MPEG-2 file before rendering it again for Silverlight using Expression Encoder. It looks a little better in my opinion. Not so many interlacing effects visible. What do you think?
